Wowzers it has been a long time since I have posted here.. but I do have a good reason... we are expecting spawn #5 and it is another boy which makes it boyz 4 girlz 1 ... my world is already crazy and this will just make it that much more chaotic :) We also moved at the end of Nov and slowly getting settled.. the nice thing is the spawns are closer to the schools they attend which makes things so much easier!

I am hoping to get back into the creative groove soon..otherwise I may go insane!

My last posting was in July! WoW... well we finally have internet..yea us!
We are now settled into our place and the kids have been enjoying their new schools! it's been an all around good thing. We LOVE it here ..so beautiful :)

I am hoping to post a bunch of yarny pictures here in the next few days..I have been spinning a lot lately to keep me sane! Also i have started some knitting projects (xmas presents for the spawns) and hope to have those done on time LOL

I think a lot of it is because for some reason there are more projects/trips/parties/projects..did I say that twice?, near the end of the year than any other time..it gets really annoying.. ugh!

Mohair is weird..very slickery and has a totally different handle than the other wools I have tried. I am not sure how I feel about it yet.. I may try blending it with other fibers that I have.

This poor project has been languishing in my studio for quite a LONG time! It is Ashland Bay Merino in turquoise and Ingeo, which is made from corn, and purply sparklies. It is titled Winter Solstice. It started off being spun on one of my drop spindles:

I rewound it onto my babe bulky because the spindled yarn was in two piles and I wanted to combine them into one. There is still a little bit more to spin up before it is done but it is coming along

It seems the closer we get to the end of the school year the closer it becomes a reality that we are once again moving.. to Utah O.O A part of me is so not looking forward to it at all..mostly because I hate the process of moving.. and since we just moved in March it is all the more mind boggling! I have been going through the "do we really need to take this with us" syndrome and the answer to it is mostly NO! I will most likely freecycle a lot of stuff.. tried listing it on craigslist but got nothing but FREAKS replying to the ad..very frustrating! and although the extra money would be very helpful it isn't worth it to go through the weirdos and scammers.
I am really hoping to find a place where we can start a garden..something I have been dreaming of doing for a LONG time!

Dorset Fleece

I won an auction for one pound of raw dorset fleece. I love the sproingy-ness of dorset and the fact that the seller lived in the same town was an added plus :D Now obviously being raw it was dirty and sheepy smelly and dirty... did I mention dirty?? after sorting thru it I took a small handful to see how it cleaned up. Put it in a bucket with some hot water and dish soap let it soak for a couple of minutes, drained and did another soak in hot water and soap. Then I rinsed it..wow what a difference

almost all of the dirt is out and there is just the tiniest bit of VM which should come out no problem .. LOving this fleece !

Good grief am I tired! Insomnia is gonna kill me.. I had plans this weekend to run some errands and spin spin spin..but I only got grocery shopping done and that was it..Didn't spin at all so far, although there is still today left....wish me luck....

I have also been contemplating a couple of fibery addiction purchases LOL.. a travel wheel ..specifically the hitchhiker..mostly because it is close to my price range and interchangeable knitting needles..not that I do a lot of knitting but hey what can I say..I am a craft tool jukie ;)

I spent the better part of yesterday sewing both by hand and machine.. I was intrigued by mini arty quilts. I like the concept because I don't have to be a neat or even a good sewer LOL.. so here is my first quilite..a WIP kind of victorian crazy quilt inspired mini..it still needs some embroidery work but it is almost there..the other piece is a fabric/felt and paper ATC :)

Happy April Fool's Day everyone.. hard to believe this year is flying by!!! We are still in a wait and see pattern.. usually I can be a fairly patient person and will usually go with the flow but this waiting crap is getting OLD! So in the meantime I guess I will just go thru things again and clear out stuff no longer needeed... exciting isn't it **eye roll** That has been an ongoing project and never seems to end.

I also dug out some supplies so I can do something constructive. Lately I have been on a fabric kick.. i.e. mini art quilts, fabric/fiber ATC's, fabric postcards I have only done one fabric atc ever

I really hate packing..and even though I trashed/donated a lot of stuff there is still A LOT here!! I swear it is reproducing behind my back.. I have a feeling that after the move a lot more junk will get trashed.. I am really hoping that this move goes smoothly.. especially since all of this was very unexpected.. it has been a very stressful time

nothing creative going on although that hasn't stopped my brain from project planning. I should be writing it all down but hell I am to exhausted half the time to remember to even do that.

on another note my two oldest boyz (15 & 16) are going on a school trip that will take them 3.5hrs away and they will be gone 4 days.. this mama is very upset.. we are a tight knit family and the thought of my kids being that far and gone for that long has me all worried and freaked out! they will be well chaperoned but that doesn't change the fact that I have been worrying like a crazy person. This is the first time they have been gone without my dh or I chaperoning.. sigh.. I guess I gotta let them go sometime..hell my oldest will be a senior in high school next year!! O.O
everyone says I will look forward to the day that they move out on their own... so NOT!

you are bored or unmotivated to do anything remotely productive.. I attacked my spinning wheel with a paint brush.. it is still not where I want it but the first layer of paint is on..I might crackle finish it with a white paint ..going for the shabby look but then again I might go for shiny black.. or even prim it up even more in darker colors.. we shall see..

*warning* this is a complaint post.. you see quite a while ago I started on a major declutter mission.. I still have a ways to go..that's not my complaint. My complaint is the stuff I am getting rid of is still here..in piles, boxes and bags o.O seriously it is making the whole process more painful than it has to be. Now you are probably wondering why I haven't just gotten rid of it. Well the simple answer is laziness but also that everything is so far away to take this stuff too (one of the downsides to living in the boonies). So my mission is for the next two weekends to spend getting rid of the junk..I hope that it will help make me feel like I have made a dent in this mess!!

well ok not really a blizzard but it sure was coming down for a bit..this lasted most of the day..they even shut down the freeway due to snow and Ice.. what fun! And on top of that they already called a snowday for the boyz..

Not only are we getting the slushy snow but it is mighty windy out! its so bad I cannot see the park across the street o.O

kids got their wish of a snow day which quite frankly I am happy for also.. sometimes it is just nice to all be at home!

I have been working on a few swaps for swap bot.. got one finished and two to go..having trouble with inspiration for one of them tho and the worst part is that it needs to be mailed out Friday..hoping something hits me here soon! One of these days I will have to remember to photograph WIP pictures...

finally we are getting some snow..its been a weird warm winter here.. the snow is typical for our area..slush snowman snow.. I sure do miss the dry stuff!

well there is a possibility of changes in the near future..hoping it is for the best too even though it will be a major ordeal for our family. It also gives me the opportunity to weed out and simplify and declutter stuff that I have not used in a long time. This is especially true when it comes to my art supplies..holy moly do I have a lot of stuff..it comes from wanting to try everything out there.. but I have found over the years that I tend to come back to certain things.. that includes

sculpting
softies (monsters and wee bears)
art dolls
spinning/knitting/crochet
some mixed media work (art journals, ATC's) although not very frequently

I am hoping to get things cleared out in the next 6 weeks... keeping fingers crossed..

well I wanted a quickie project just so I can feel like I accomplished something today LOL..so I dragged out my experimental Navajo plied yarn that I made up from that ugly batt.. and used jumbo needles with the jumbo yarn (i think its about 2-3 wpi) and made a jumbo neck warmer..now I am trying to decide whether to close up the circle or put in a button.. hmmm here is a wip picture of it

ok here he/she is.. I haven't sculpted in a long while and usually I make weird ugly dolls...but I have wanted to try my hand at making a polymer baby.. you can tell its a practice piece because of the lint flecks and general unsmoothness of the clay but I am happy with it :)

I am making headway in the mess that is the spare room/studio.. And with the weather cooling I am actually looking forward to digging out some clay and sculpting!
